Shomoukh for Early Childhood Education
A home away from home
Shomoukh, Oman’s first premier nursery school since 2014, provides Early Childhood Education and childcare in a modern purpose-built setting within the Community Hub at the heart of Al Mouj Muscat. It offers a nurturing, inspirational environment where children from six months up to kindergarten learn through discovery and play.
A hands-on approach
Inspired by Reggio Emilia Approach and following the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), every member of the Shomoukh team shares a common belief that children must be taught how to think, not what to think.
Children are engaged in child-centered activities proven to enrich learning.
Numeracy, literacy, arts and crafts, music, movement and sensory play, are all taught in a way that encourages curiosity, teaches empathy and problem-solving skills whilst supporting social and emotional development.
It is a hands-on approach that fosters individuality, helping to prepare each child for a lifelong learning experience and laying the foundations for their academic success.
A love of languages
The school’s methods encourage young minds to be inquisitive about the world around them and aims to instill joy in learning different languages such as Arabic, English, French and other languages.
The right environment
Inaugurated in 2022, Shomoukh has been designed on an open space concept. Flooded with natural light, the environment is calming and creative and incorporates a library, art and clay atelier as well as a light and digital atelier. There are also delightful tiny towns, an outdoor play area and a children’s garden.
A high quality team
Shomoukh is the only nursery school in the Sultanate of Oman that is internationally accredited and where standards have been developed based on Oman Vision 2040 and UNICEF Education Strategy.
From its friendly and knowledgeable administrative staff to the in-house nursing clinic and highly qualified academic team, it offers a safe, warm and comforting environment where children can thrive.
